Carolyn Shumyla's Obituary
Carolyn M. Shumyla, age 39, of Lorain, died on Wednesday, May 12, 2010 at University Hospital, Cleveland, following a long battle with Lupus.
Carolyn was born on July 7, 1970 in Lorain, where she has been a lifelong resident.
She was a 1988 graduate of Admiral King High School and received her Associate’s Degree in Applied Science at Lorain County Community College.
Carolyn was employed as a RN at Hospice of Western Reserve for 8 years, prior to this she was a RN at EMH Regional Medical Center, Elyria.
She was a member of Lorain Lighthouse United Methodist Church. Carolyn was also a member of the Lupus Foundation and volunteered at the Humane Society of America.
She was very artistic and was known as “Martha”. She enjoyed her dog, Mickhail and spending time with her nieces and nephews.
She was survived by her parents, Robert “Bob” and Marilyn (nee Wilding) Shumyla, sisters, Pamela “Brian” Root, of Brecksville, OH, Janice (Johnathan) Papai, of Bedford, KY, nieces and nephews, Johnathan Papai, Brendan Root, Tylar Papai, Shelby Papai, Jacob Root, and dear friend, Robert Triniszewski, of Arkansas.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, May 16, 2010 from 1-6 p.m. at the Dovin and Reber Jones Funeral & Cremation Center, 1110 Cooper Foster Park Road, Amherst, Ohio 44001, where funeral services will be held on Monday at 11:00 a.m. Rev. Greg Sellers, Pastor of Lorain Lighthouse United Methodist Church, will officiate. Burial will follow in Ridge Hill Memorial Park.
