Christine Smith's Obituary
Christine Smith, age 62, of Sheffield Lake passed away on Wednesday, June 23, 2021 at Mercy New Life Hospice Center in Lorain. She was born September 12, 1958, in Lorain, Ohio to Edwin L. and Elizabeth (nee Nemeth) Jones and was a 1976 graduate of Southview High School.
Christine worked as STNA for Mercy New Life Hospice Center for 12 years and most recently for Mercy Regional Medical Center both in Lorain. She had a passion for her job and was loved by all her patients and co-workers.
She loved the beach, the ocean, gardening, and jazz music. Her daughters and grandchildren were her life and brought her true happiness.
Christine is survived by her daughter, Katie (Kevin Vonya) Kallas, of Elyria, and Ashley (Matthew) Martin, of Sheffield Lake; grandchildren, Kaiden and Ella Vonya, Zackary Kallas, and Sophia Martin; and her siblings, Linda Hayslip, Nancy Jones, Edwin (Carol) Jones, Carolyn (Blake Smith) Jones, Caren (Rick) Rosso, Patricia (Stacy) Muffley, Kelly Liszak, and Barbie (Don) Beaston, along with many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Edwin L. and Elizabeth Jones.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, June 29, 2021 from 2:00 -5:30 p.m. in the Dovin and Reber Jones Funeral & Cremation Center, 1110 Cooper Foster Park Road, Amherst. A closing prayer service will be held at 5:30 p.m. in the funeral center following the visitation.
In lieu of flowers the family suggest contributions be made in memory of Christine to Mercy New Life Hospice, 3500 Kolbe Road, Lorain, Ohio 44053.
