Christos S. Kollias' Obituary
Christos “Kitsolan” Kollias, 82, passed away on February 5, 2023. Loving father to daughter Demetra (Kosta) Royannis from Montreal, Quebec ;loving father to son Serafim (Sevasti) Kollias from Avon Lake, Ohio; adored pappou to Christos and Zoe Royannis; loving brother to Anastasios “Blacky” Kollias from Thissvi, Greece; and several cousins, nieces, and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Georgia (nee Demou) Kollias; and his beloved parents, Serafim and Demetra (nee Papathomas) from Thisvi, Greece.
Christos was born in Thisvi (Kakos), Greece on February 20, 1940. He served in the Greek Army and was a carpenter. In March 1967, he married his lovely wife, Georgia in Greece and at the end of March 1968, they left their family behind in search of a better life and immigrated to Lorain, Ohio. Immediately he found work at the Lorain Ford Plant and worked as a laborer for 32.5 years and retired in 2000.
Christos was an active member of St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church in Lorain, Ohio, and a member of the Order of AHEPA, Chapter 144, Lorain-Elyria, and a member of the Thivaikon Society of Michigan and Ohio. He enjoyed gardening and spending time his summers in Greece with his late wife visiting with their family and friends from their childhood.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, February 11, 2023 from 10:00 a.m. at St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church, 2000 Tower Blvd., Lorain, Ohio. Funeral services will immediately follow the visitation at 11:00 a.m. Reverend Father Christopher Zaferes will officiate. Interment will follow at Ridge Hill Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made in memory of Christos to The Order of AHEPA, Chapter 144, of Lorain-Elyria.
