Chrysa Babic's Obituary
Chrysa Babic (nee Chemorov), age 46, of Melbourne, Florida, passed away on Sunday, November 9, 2025, after succumbing to injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
She was born on August 10, 1979, in Oberlin, Ohio, and was raised in Lorain. Chrysa graduated from Clearview High School in 1999, where she proudly served as class valedictorian. She continued her education at The Ohio State University, earning her bachelor’s degree in 2003.
For many years, Chrysa worked alongside her father at his travel agency in Westlake, where she excelled as a travel agent and developed a deep appreciation for helping others explore the world. She was a lifelong member of Saints Peter & Paul Orthodox Church in Lorain and held her faith close throughout her life.
Chrysa was a remarkable and uniquely creative woman. An avid animal lover, she cared deeply for her dogs and birds and enjoyed breeding birds, fish, and even snakes. She delighted in crafting custom ice cream from tea and expressed her boundless creativity through art, iconography, DIY projects, and homemaking. Her talents were many, but she was especially known for her exceptional skill in designing and creating granicrete countertops—work she approached with both artistry and precision.
She is survived by her husband, Slavoljub “Sam” Babic; her mother, Joanne (nee Kovalchik) Chemorov; and her brother, Nick (Nicole) Chemorov, of Olmsted Falls. She was preceded in death by her father, Michael Chemorov Jr., on November 6, 2019.
The family will receive friends on Friday, November 21, 2025, from 3:00 – 6:00 p.m. at the Dovin and Reber Jones Funeral & Cremation Center, 1110 Cooper Foster Park Road, Amherst, Ohio. Parastas services will follow at 6:00 p.m.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 22, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at Saints Peter and Paul Orthodox Church, 2238 East 32nd Street, Lorain, Ohio. Very Rev. Fr. Joseph McCartney, Pastor, will officiate.
