Chuck Hood Sr.'s Obituary
Chuck Hood, Sr., age 68, of Elyria, passed away at the Cleveland Clinic Rehabilitation Hospital, after a sudden illness, on Saturday, December 31, 2022.
He was born in Neon, Kentucky on April 14, 1954 but moved to Elyria when he was a couple years old, where he has lived ever since. Chuck is a 1972 graduate of Elyria High School. For 45 years, he was employed at Nelson Stud Welding where he was a tool and die maker and finally retired in 2018.
Chuck had a strong Christian faith instilled in him. He was a kind man and possessed the trait of being genuine and not afraid to be himself. He wore his emotions on his sleeve but always knew how to have a great time. Affectionately, he was known as “Pops” by everyone because of his caring nature. Chuck was a devout family man and loved attending his kids and grandkids’ various sporting events, sometimes even getting to be an umpire for his sons’ baseball games. Along with being quite the “Jack of all trades,” he enjoyed fishing and bowling too.
He will be dearly missed by his loving wife of 44 years, Pauline F. (nee Rogers); children, Chuck, Jr. (Ashley) Hood, of Vermilion, Anna Hood, of Elyria, and Craig (Danielle) Hood, of Lorain; grandchildren, Tristan, Chuckie, Evan, and “Baby Girl Hood” who will arrive in May of 2023; brother, Robert (Glo) Hood, of Elyria; sister, Kathy (Ed) Knapp, of St. Augustine, FL; brother-in-law, Paul (Barbara Miller) Myers, of Anaheim, CA; many nieces and nephews and his beloved cats, Zeus & Apollo, and his chihuahua, “Charlie.”
Chuck was preceded in death by his parents; Robert A. & Anna J. (nee Belt) Hood.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, January 5, 2023 from 3 to 7 pm in the Dovin and Reber Jones Funeral & Cremation Center, 1110 Cooper Foster Park Road, Amherst. To send an online condolence, please visit www.dovinreberjones.com.
