Connie Finney's Obituary
Connie L. Finney, age 72, of Lorain passed away unexpectedly on Sunday April 9, 2017 at the Cleveland Clinic.
She was born on December 17, 1944 in Oberlin, Ohio to Marshall and Beverly (nee Johnson) Gates. Connie graduated from Wellington High School in 1963 and attended Defiance College.
Connie made her career in the banking industry a career that she truly loved. She began as a teller in 1966 and went on to become Vice President of Operations for the Oberlin Savings Bank for over 25 years. She most recently was employed as a loan manager with Lakeshore Community Credit Union.
She served on the Clearview School Board and was also a volunteer Firefighter with the Sheffield Twp. Fire Department.
Connie had a great love for animals, enjoyed gardening and working outside. She was a very social, kind and generous woman. Her greatest joy however was her grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband of 30 years, William Finney; sons, Jeff (Jennifer) Diedrick, of Wellington, and Lane (Tracy) Diedrick, of Elyria; grandchildren, Amanda, Chris, Courtney, Nolan, Connor, Jacob, Luke, Jace, Leah, Devan, and Noah; great-grandchildren, Jackson, Samuel, Isaiah, Brooklyn, and Mackinze; brothers, Marshall (Marion) gates, and Alan Gates; and her sister, Bonnie (Mike) Burns.
Connie was preceded in death by her parents, Marshall and Beverly Gates; and her sister, Molly Gates.
The Finney family will receive friends on Saturday, April 15, 2017 from 1:00 – 5:000 p.m. in the Dovin and Reber Jones Funeral & Cremation Center, 1110 Cooper Foster Park Road, Amherst. Private family interment will take place.
