Conrad Bohl's Obituary
CMSGT Conrad J. Bohl, ret., age 65, of Vermilion, passed away Monday, January 23, 2012 at his home following a lingering illness.
He was born on December 7, 1946 in Ashland, Ohio to the late Harry and Lorraine (nee Stohler) Bohl. He graduated from Vermilion High School in 1964. He was also a graduate from the Senior NCO Academy in Birmingham, Alabama.
Conrad served 27 years in the US Air Force, including serving during the Vietnam War. Aside from other honors, he earned the prestigious Meritorious Service Medal with 3 Oak Leaf Clusters and also the Air Force Commendation Medal with 3 Oak Leaf Clusters. He retired from the Air Force in 1992 as a Chief Master Sergeant E9.
Following his retirement from the military, he worked for 5 years at the Lorain Ford Assembly Plant.
An active member of First Baptist Church in Vermilion, he had formerly served as a trustee of the church and also taught Sunday School there.
He was a life-member of the AmVets Post 22 of Vermilion. He enjoyed creating stained glass art.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Jackie (nee Shipman); his sons, Conrad J. Bohl, Jr. (Christine), of Bonney Lake, WA and Matthew Shane Bohl (Michelle), of Vermilion; 5 grandchildren, Amanda, Matthew Shane, Jacob, Sarah, and Lucas; his brothers, Harry, Dr. Allen Bohl, Stanley and Eric and a sister, Patty Ann Piening.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, January 25, 2012 from 3-7 p.m. in the Dovin and Reber Jones Funeral & Cremation Center, 1110 Cooper Foster Park Rd., Amherst. Funeral services and Military Honors will be held on Thursday at 2 p.m. in the funeral center. Pastor Jerry Anderson will officiate. A private burial will be held at a later date.
