Cora Shepelak's Obituary
Cora Shepelak, a beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away on May 6, 2023, at the age of 92 at Mercy New Life Hospice, in Lorain. She was born on August 13, 1930, in Cleveland, Ohio, to James and Theresa Hronek.
Cora was a hardworking woman who worked as an Optometrist Assistant for many years, retiring in 1992. She was a dedicated member of St. Ambrose Church in Brunswick, Ohio, for many years. Her love for her family was evident to everyone who knew her, and she cherished the time spent with her children and grandchildren.
Cora had a passion for traveling and visited many parts of the country, including Alaska, with her husband. She also enjoyed needlepoint and crafting, shopping, and dining out with her daughter. Her kind and generous heart extended to the Seeing Eye Dog Foundation, which she supported wholeheartedly.
Cora is survived by her children, Susan (Rick) Miller, of Wakeman, Jim Bandsuh, of Brunswick Hills, and John (Barb) Bandsuh, of Independence; and her grandchildren, Nikki (Greg Teresh) Bandsuh and Robbie Bandsuh. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Edward "Bob" Bandsuh, and her second husband, Joseph Shepelak; parents, James and Theresa Hronek; and her brother, Robert Sherry.
Friends and family are invited to attend the visitation on Tuesday, May 16, 2023, from 10:00 - 11:30 a.m. at the Dovin and Reber Jones Funeral & Cremation Center, 1110 Cooper Foster Park Road, Amherst. A funeral service will follow the visitation at 11:30 a.m. in the funeral center. Interment will take place following the service at 2:00 p.m. at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, Rittman, Ohio.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Cora's memory to the Friendship Animal Protection League, 8303 Murray Ridge Road, Elyria, OH 44035.
