Courtney Mercedes Dineff's Obituary
Courtney Mercedes Dineff 34, of Elyria, Ohio passed away on Saturday September 6, 2025, at Mercy Health New Life Hospice in Lorain. She was born on November 13, 1990, in Lorain, Ohio to Peggy (Holzhauer) and Louie Dineff.
She was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkins Large B-Cell Lymphoma in December of2024 and had been going through an abundance of treatments for the past 9 months finally succumbing to this disease. Courtney throughout this ordeal fought it with great perseverance although the pain was greater than great, never complaining about her suffering. The nursing staff on the third floor at the Siedman Cancer Center at UH in Cleveland (who are the true Angels of God) always remarked at how resilient and brave she was considering what she was going through.
Courtney was born in Lorain and lived there most of her life then moved to Elyria 13 years ago. She was active in sports in high school as a member of the girls fastpitch, volleyball, and bowling teams along with being a member of the band at Admiral King graduating in 2009. She was also a Croatian Princess in the 2008 Lorain International Pageant. She started her working career at Mc Donald in Amherst, Wellington then Gear Company of America in Wellington, then moving on to Kaydon Industries in Avon and her current job as a crane operator in the shipping department at Cleveland Cliffs in Cleveland.
She was able to go on vacation with her family in her younger days traveling to Florida, California and her favorite place, Las Vegas, both by plane and car doing the cross-country trip as in the movie Vacation. Her new destination of travel was Laughlin, Nevada where she had gone with her parents and fiance Josh Thom playing slots and table games, and riding jet skis on the Colorado river.
Courtney loved her pets, especially her dogs, Milo and Tanner. She was able to have Milo come to her bedside two days before her passing and give her kisses and stay by her side.
Unfortunately, Tanner could not be by her due to restrictions. She also had two other dogs who passed away and lead her into heaven, Piper, and Oscar whom she loved very much, along with a fish named "Brainy."
She passed away with her patented smile on her face with her family around. Courtney made many friends in her lifetime both through school and work. She is now amongst the Angels. God bless her.
Courtney is survived by her parents, brother Aaron Dineff, nephew Aaron Dineff Jr, fiance Joshua Thom, the love of her life for the past thirteen years. Aunts and Uncles Darlene (Pongracz) (Gary, deceased), Mary Lou Salas (Dave Zeiter, deceased), Denise Dineff (Scott Law), Debbie Hupp (Steve Cotefl), Joseph and Leslie Perichak, Brad and Bev Holzhauer, Kurt, and Sue Holzhauer.
