Dan E. Berry's Obituary
Dan E. “O.D.B” Berry, Sr, age 70, of Lorain, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, November 6th, 2023.
He was born on October 4th, 1953 in Elyria. Growing up in Elyria and spending a lot of time between there and Oberlin, he is a graduate of Elyria High School. After marrying the love of his life they moved together to Lorain where he’s lived since. Dan worked as a machinist at AJ Rose for many years before retiring from there 2019. Previously he worked for the shipyards until they closed.
Dan was a social member of the Croatian Club as well as the Lorain Columbian Club, which also happens to be 2 of his favorite spots. He loved working in his yard but always loved it more with a cold beer in his hand. He also enjoyed watching and cheering on, or sometimes yelling at, the Cleveland Indians, Browns and the Ohio State Buckeyes.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 46 years, Lynn Marie (nee Klinar), daughter, Amanda (Randy) Koubeck, his grand-puppies; Dizzy, Diesel and Max, and his siblings; Jean (John) Lydon, of Elyria, Patricia Berry, of Elyria, Richard (Gwen) Berry, of GA and Jerry (Janet) Berry, of Oberlin. He is also survived by his nieces and nephews.
Dan was preceded in death by his son, Daniel Edward Berry, Jr., and his parents, Benjamin E. Berry & Faye E. (nee Moore) Sinegar.
The family will receive friends for visitation on Thursday, November 9th, 2023 from 4-8 pm at Dovin and Reber Jones Funeral & Cremation Center, 1110 Cooper Foster Park Road, Amherst. His funeral service will be held on Friday, at 11:00 am, also in the funeral center. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery, Lorain. Dan had such a huge place in his heart for animals and the family thought it would honor him best that in lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory should be made to the Friendship APL, 8303 Murray Ridge Road, Elyria, OH 44035.
