Daniel L. Muir Jr.'s Obituary
Daniel “Dan” Louis Muir, Jr., age 68, of Oberlin, passed away at Ames Family Hospice House in Westlake, after a brief illness, on Monday, January 24, 2022.
Dan was born on April 21, 1953 in New London, CT and eventually moved to Oberlin in the late 1980’s. He was very proud of his service to our country in the United States Army. His fondest memories of serving were from his time spent in Germany where he flew Cobra helicopters. After serving, he was a pilot in New York City and then later, worked as an air traffic controller.
The most important and meaningful part of Dan’s life was his family. He is going to be dearly missed by his wife of 35 years, Arlene J. (nee Starr), his son, Sean (Breanne), of Dixon, CA, and his daughter, Rachel Muir, of Columbus. He was greatly anticipating the arrival of his 1st grandchild, Theodore Daniel, who Sean and Breanne are expecting March. Dan is also survived by his brothers; Kevin (Julie) and Brian (Stephanie), as well his nieces and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; Daniel L., Sr., and Marilyn (nee Gordon) Muir and very recently, his brother, Glenn.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, January 29th, 2022 from 9:00 am until the time of his funeral Mass at 10:00 am, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 200 St. Joseph Drive, Amherst, Ohio 44001. Fr. Timothy J. O’Connor, Pastor, will officiate. Inurnment will take place at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery in Annville, PA, at a later date. All are welcome to join the family for an Irish wake and lunch at noon following the mass at the Amherst, Ohio VFW post 1662.
