Daniel Ramos' Obituary
Daniel Ramos, age 90, of Lorain, died on Friday, September 17, 2010 at New Life Hospice Residential Center of St. Joseph.
He was born on December 12, 1919 in Fajardo, Puerto Rico. In 1952 he came to Lorain and has resided here ever since.
Daniel worked as a receiving clerk at US Steel for 34 years, retiring in 1982. Following his retirement, he worked in maintenance for Lorain Metropolitan Housing Authority for 14 years. He also owned and operated a construction company "Ramos Construction" from 1976 to 1985.
He was a member of Sacred Heart Chapel in Lorain. He enjoyed watching baseball, and in his younger years he enjoyed fishing.
He is survived by his daughter, Raquel Cotto, of Lorain; his sons, Jose Luis, Edwardo “Eddie”, both of Lorain and Daniel, of Elyria; and his many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Santia in 2003.
The family will receive friends on Monday, September 20, 2010 from 4-7 p.m. in the Dovin and Reber Jones Funeral & Cremation Center, 1110 Cooper Foster Park Rd., Amherst. Closing prayers will be on Tuesday at 8:45 a.m. in the funeral center, followed by a funeral mass at 9:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart Chapel, Lorain. Fr. James R. Ols, pastor, of St. Vincent de Paul Church will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
