Daniel A. Versace's Obituary
Daniel A. Versace, age 79, of South Amherst passed away Friday, October 4, 2013 at Metro Health Medical Center in Cleveland, Ohio.
He was born on March 4, 1934 in Lorain, Ohio to Agostino and Mary (nee Maddalun) Versace. He graduated from Lorain High School in 1952. Daniel served his country with the United States Air Force.
Dan made his career as a Senior Lab Technician with BF Goodrich in Avon Lake, retiring in 1990. Upon his retirement he then went on to continue his career at Zeon Chemicals in Louisville, Kentucky and retired in 1999.
He attended St. Peter’s United Church of Christ, in Amherst with his wife, Gloria. He was a member of the American Legion Post # 118, the Amvets Post #22 and a very dedicated and active member of the Italian American Veterans Post 1, where he served as a trustee, and did maintenance. Fishing, gardening and puttering around the home are the hobbies that he enjoyed. Dan’s granddaughter, Lindsey brought him much joy and he found great pleasure spending time with her and attending all of her activities.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Gloria (nee Greulich); daughter, Patti (Jeff) Stumpp, of Amherst; granddaughter, Lindsey; and his dog, Daisy.
Daniel was preceded in death by his parents, Agostino and Mary Versace; and brothers, Richard “Ace” and Joseph Versace.
The Versace family will receive friends on Saturday, October 12, 2013 from 10:00 – 11:30 a.m. in the Dovin and Reber Jones Funeral & Cremation Center, 1110 Cooper Foster Park Road, Amherst. A memorial service will immediately follow the visitation at 11:30 a.m. in the funeral center. Rev. Mark Pemberton, of St. Peter’s United Church of Christ, will officiate. Inurnment will follow at Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst Twp. Military Honors will be conducted by the I.A. V. Post 1.
The family suggest donations be made in memory of Dan to the Friendship Animal Protective League, 8303 Murray Ridge Road, Elyria OH 44035.
