Daniel L. Welko's Obituary
Daniel L. Welko, age 52, of Lorain, passed away on Thursday, January 15, 2015 at Anchor Lodge Skilled Nursing Facility, following a one year illness.
Born on July 7, 1962 in Lorain, he graduated from Admiral King High School in 1980. He then attended West Virginia University.
Daniel owned and operated the Great Lakes Auto & Marine in Lorain since the year 2000. Prior to that, he managed the Budget Auto Parts stores in Lorain and Elyria.
Daniel was known to his friends and family as a “Grill Master”, always cooking and grilling something for them to enjoy. In his free time, he enjoyed restoring vintage cars and spending time on his boat. In his younger years, he was a member of the Boy Scouts.
He is survived by his mother, Mildred (nee Toothman); his brothers, Dr. Jeff (Linda), of Stow, and Scott, of Lorain; his niece, Dr. Ashleigh Welko; his nephews, Nicholas and David Welko; and his cousin, Mike (Karla) Smith, of Clarksburg, WV.
He was preceded in death by his father, Daniel H., in 2012.
The family invites friends to a memorial gathering on Thursday, January 22, 2015 from 5:00 p.m. until the time of memorial service at 6:00 p.m. in the Dovin and Reber Jones Funeral & Cremation Center, 1110 Cooper Foster Park Rd., Amherst. Chaplain Sandie King, of Mercy Regional Medical Center, will officiate.
