Darlene Lucretia Krieg's Obituary
Darlene Lucretia Krieg (nee Fletcher), age 94, of Amherst passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 31, 2022 under the care of Ames Family Hospice in Westlake.
She was born on February 24, 1928 in Lorain, Ohio to William and Olive (nee Page) Fletcher. Darlene lived in Lorain until 1970. She moved to South Amherst and then to Amherst where she has resided since 1987.
For 41 years Darlene was employed at Western Automatic, Stanadyne Corporation and Moen, in Elyria, retiring in March of 1992. She also served as a hostess at Heilman’s Restaurant and the Ranch House for many years. In 1980 she obtained her real estate license and worked as an agent until 1990.
Darlene was a member of St. Peter’s United Church of Christ. She enjoyed reading, crocheting, gardening, playing bingo and cards, going on bus trips, taking trips to Las Vegas, and playing games on her computer. She enjoyed taking long car rides, especially in the fall. Her greatest love was time spent with her family and her beloved cat “Smiley”.
She is survived by her son, Dewey (Karen) Leadingham, of Wellington; daughter, Terri (Robert) Gay, of North Ridgeville; 6 grandchildren; many great, and great-great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Joyce Coleman; brother-in-law, Gary (Marsha) Krieg; and many nieces and nephews from both her and her and late husband’s family.
Darlene was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Edward “Bob” Krieg in 2013; daughters, Rae Dene Leadingham, and Joyce Gendics; parents, William and Olive Fletcher; brothers, Robert Fletcher, and William Fletcher; sisters, Barbara (John) Szabo, and Bernice (Bernard) Reisz; and her sister-in-law, Janie Fletcher.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 9, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. in the Dovin and Reber Jones Funeral & Cremation Center, 1110 Cooper Foster Park Road, Amherst. Inurnment will follow at Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst Twp. Masks are optional.
