David A. Jackson's Obituary
David Alan Jackson, age 53, of Lorain, passed away at Mercy New Life Hospice Center of St. Joseph on Monday, April 24th, 2023. Since he was diagnosed with cancer a few years ago, he fought a valiant battle and his loving wife was always by his side to care for his every need.
He was born on November 4, 1969 in Lorain but grew up in Amherst and is a 1988 graduate of Marion L. Steele High School. After high school graduation, he chose to serve his beloved country by enlisting in the United States Navy. While serving, he was stationed on the submarine ship, USS Casimir Pulaski, before being honorably discharged after a term of 4 years. As of most recent, David was employed at Republic Services as an operations supervisor. Prior, he was a general manager for Giant Eagle’s Get Go stations. He was a devoted member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Amherst.
Nothing fulfilled and made David happier than being a husband, dad, and “pops” and loved the time spent with his family. His grandson, Carson, and his grand-dog, Brodie, truly brought him joy that words could not describe. He also enjoyed taking traveling, vacations and cheering on the Pittsburgh Steelers.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 30 years, Norma E. (nee Heppner) Jackson; children, Brooke (Brett) Hennes, Noah Jackson and Payton Jackson; grandson, Carson Hennes; mother, Beverly A. (nee Barnes) Jackson; siblings, Kimberly (Todd) Reicholf, Jeffrey (Kelly Ash) Jackson, Michael (Fanny) Jackson and Jennifer Jackson. He is also survived by his many nieces and nephews.
David was preceded in death by a grandson, Maverick David Hennes; father, Major Jackson; niece, Alice Auspurk and God son, Drew Hayden.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, April 27th, 2023 from 3 to 7 pm at Dovin and Reber Jones Funeral & Cremation Center, 1110 Cooper Foster Park Road, Amherst. Friends will also be received on Friday from 10:30 am until the time of his Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 am at St. Joseph Church, 200 St. Joseph Drive, Amherst. Rev. Fr. Timothy J.
