David A. Pierce's Obituary
David A. Pierce, beloved husband and devoted father, was born in McKeesport, PA on May 1, 1946. He passed away on June 1, 2025, following complications from a stroke. He died peacefully with his wife, son, and family by his side.
He was a 1964 graduate of Lorain High School and joined the Navy in 1966. His military career took him to Italy to serve along side his brother, Paul. He then spent a year on board the aircraft carrier USS Shagri-La. Seeking dry land he finished his service in Keflavik, Iceland.
After his discharge, he joined GE Supply in 1969, retiring in 2006. During his time at GE, he worked his way from the shipping department to sales, where he was constantly a member of Drummers Club.
Family was his passion. Nothing made him happier than his weekly Sunday dinners that he cooked for family and friends. He never went to a gathering where he didn’t bring his famous mac and cheese. He enjoyed cooking for the Vermilion Police Department every month. His potato soup was always a frequent request. Among his family, he was most welcomed when he had a tray of the Pierce Family orange cookies with him.
Family vacations were a special time for him. Breakfast at Blue Heaven in Key West and shopping at Mongoose Junction on St. John’s were his favorite places to take his family.
He enjoyed monthly lunches with his GE co-workers and his friends from the mill. Driving his fellow vets in the Amherst Memorial Parade, tossing candy to the kids was an event he always looked forward to.
His annual Christmas open house was the start of the Holiday Season.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years Deborah, his son Marc. Along with his nieces Gabby and Tori Cantu, his sister Rebecca Bainter and brother Philip Pierce.
He was preceded in death by his son Todd, his parents Howard and Ruth Pierce and brothers Paul, Howard and Daniel.
Family and friends will be received on Friday, June 6, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. at the Dovin and Reber Jones Funeral & Cremation Center, 1110 Cooper Foster Park Road, Amherst.
