Deborah Christine Raesler, 48 of Amherst died peacefully at home surrounded by her family on December 20, 2021 following her battle with pancreatic cancer. She was an Amherst resident most of her life. Debbie was a graduate of Mar Read Obituary
Our deepest sympathies go out to Debbie’s family. It’s a tragic loss and hard to believe she is gone. We are so fortunate to have her as one our daughters “Best” friends. We will miss her so much. We are thankful for so many good memories from vacations, camping trips and her drop in visits. I admired what a great mother and daughter she was. And how she balanced that with the compassion she had for her students. She was a bright light. Rest In Peace dear Debbie.

I was fortunate enough to have had Debbie (as well as all of your children) as a student at Steele. Debbie filled the classroom with warmth, joy and kindness. She was one of the few who made it easy to connect with. I was so happy to hear she chose education as her profession. It was a perfect fit, as she had so much to give to others. I had the good fortune of meeting her son - what a great young man he is. Debbie raised him well. Thank you, Becky, for keeping me posted. To the whole family, I send my sincere sympathies. Words cannot begin to express how sorry I am for your loss. Debbie was an amazing woman that I am honored to call my friend. Fate brought us together 30 years ago at Mount Union in King Hall when we lived across the hall from each other. We quickly became close friends and our group was inseparable. For four years we were together every day as either roommates or neighbors and we became more like sisters than just college friends. After college, life got busy as we were balancing motherhood, careers, family & graduate school programs. Our get togethers were not as often as we would have liked but every time we could pick right back up from where we left off. That was the beauty of our friendship which I will treasure forever. She was a beautiful person inside and out. Her heart was full of love for her son, her family, her friends and her students. My heart aches for every person whose life Debbie touched but we are all better people just for knowing her. The stars in heaven are brighter because of Debbie - may she rest in peace.
My sincerest condolences to Aaron and Debbie’s whole family. She was such a light in this world and she was truly one of the most kind and loving human beings I have ever known. I consider myself lucky to call her my friend and sister for 30 years. Her friendship meant something and will forever be in my heart. I’m comforted that she is at peace and no longer in pain but this world has suffered a great loss without her bright light in it.
We are so sorry about the loss of your sister. There are no words at a time like this that can be said to make it better.
