Delmar R. Odelli's Obituary
Delmar R. Odelli, age 78, of Amherst passed away Friday, September 9, 2016 at Fairview Hospital.
He was born on October 22, 1937 in Smithton, Pennsylvania to Delmar P. and Anna (nee Piter) Odelli and graduated from South Huntington High School in Pennsylvania. He went on to further his education studying mechanical and aeronautical engineering, graduating from the University of Pittsburgh in 1959.
Delmar made his career as an engineer working for Bendix and for the Nordson Corporation from where he retired in 1998.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, traveling and watching sports; particularly watching his grandchildren’s sporting events. His main focus was his family.
Delmar is survived by his wife of 56 years, Shirley A. (nee Worrall); son, David (Polly) Odelli; daughters, Carolyn A. (Stephen) Zadiraka, of Sarasota, Florida and Susan M. (John) Kasper, of Amherst; grandchildren, J.C. Kasper IV, Derek Odelli and Trent Odelli; brother, Darryl Odelli, of Smithton, PA; and his sister, Darlene Madar, of Smithton, PA
The Odelli family will receive friends on Tuesday, September 13, 2016 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. in the Dovin and Reber Jones Funeral & Cremation Center, 1110 Cooper Foster Park Road, Amherst. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, September 14th. at 1:00 p.m. in the funeral center. Pastor Bob Ludig of Amherst United Methodist Church will officiate. Private family inurnment will take place at a later date.
The family suggest contributions be made in memory of Delmar to the Cleveland Clinic Foundation Cancer Research Center.
