Diane Lynn Lindway's Obituary
Diane Lynn Lindway (nee Walters) entered into eternal rest on August 17, 2023. Born on March 15, 1958 in Lorain Ohio, Diane was a passionate student and reader that carried her throughout her life. She graduated from Lorain High School in 1976 and Kent State University with honors in 1980 eventually receiving her Masters Degree in Education in 1982. She proudly taught for over 30 years in the Amherst City School District, retiring in 2014. Her dedication to Special Education never waivered and she was a continual advocate for her students for disabilities, using her fluency in American Sign Language to support all voices.
She met her sweetheart, Robert (Bob), in her teen years while working at Convenient Food Mart. They began dating throughout high school and college, marrying July 18, 1981 and have celebrated 42 years of marriage together.
A passionate member of First Evangelical Lutheran Church, she attended services weekly and helped to organize events to support the congregation. In her retirement Diane enjoyed reading, creating beaded jewelry, crafting, and taking the family dog, Webster, on many adventures. She and Bob traveled, visiting as many new cities as they could. They were also avid members of the Guardians Club (formerly Wahoo Club) and attended hundreds of baseball games and special events, going to autograph signings and meeting players. Her last years were spent enjoying being a grandmother and all the joy that brings.
She is survived by her loving family: husband Robert Lindway, daughters Alexis (Corinne) Lindway and Brianna (Gene Rucker) Lindway, and grandson Theodore Lindway.
She is preceded in death by her father, Dale Junior Walters. She is survived by her mother Arline Walters and brother Tim Walters.
A memorial service will be held at First Evangelical Lutheran Church at 1019 W. 5th St. in Lorain, Ohio on Saturday, August 26th. A visitation is scheduled from 10 am to 12pm with a service beginning at 12 pm. A luncheon will follow and all are welcome. In lieu of flowers Diane requested a donation be made in her name to either First Evangelical Lutheran Church or the donor’s preferred choice of charity.
