Diane M. Shamine's Obituary
Diane Maxine Shamine, (nee Toth), age 66, of Lorain, passed away on Sunday, November 23, 2014 at Mercy New Life Hospice Residential Center following a 2 year battle with cancer.
Born on December 13, 1947 in Lorain, she graduated from Admiral King High School in 1965, where she was a member of National Honor Society. She attended Bowling Green State University.
Diane worked as a bookkeeper at Toth Sunoco, which was her father’s service station in Lorain. Through the years, she worked at various places including Nordson Corp, Amherst, City Bank, Lorain, ITT Lighting, Vermilion and Babcock & Wilcox in Barberton. For 27 years, she worked at T.J. Hume Construction Co, Lorain, as their treasurer. She retired from there in 2003.
Diane was a member and also served as the treasurer in 1987 for the National Association of Women in Construction (NWIC) Chapter 320. She was a Notary Public.
Diane enjoyed cooking, gardening, crocheting and going to casinos.
She is survived by her best friend and husband of 46 years, Dennis; her mother, Maxine Toth (nee Bartlome), of Lorain; her brother, Julius (Suzanne) Toth, Jr., of Lorain her sister, Rachelle (Steve) Ostrolencki, of Amherst; and nieces and nephews and great nieces and great nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father, Julius in 1993.
The family will receive friends on Tussday from 4-8 p.m. in the Dovin and Reber Jones Funeral & Cremation Center, 1110 Cooper Foster Park Rd., Amherst, where funeral services will be on Wednesday at 9:30 a.m. Pastor Attila Szemesi, of Amherst Congregational UCC, will officiate. Burial will follow in Brownhelm Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to Mercy New Life Hospice, 3500 Kolbe Rd., Lorain, OH 44053.
