DiAnna Lynn Gonzalez's Obituary
DiAnna Lynn Gonzalez, age 69, of Oberlin, passed away on Thursday, June 21, 2018, at Mercy Regional Medical Center, Lorain.
She was born on July 22, 1948 in Seth, West Virginia, to Delbert and Mary Matty (nee Santonio) Reed.
DiAnna was a member of Sacred Heart Chapel and enjoyed continuing her ministry through her volunteer work. She was a faithful child of God, and devoted her life to sharing the love she received from Christ with all whose lives she touched. She was an astonishing wife, mother, sister, aunt, friend, and foster mother to many children. She was a volunteer for the Mary Lee Tucker Clothe-a-Child and enjoyed being a Eucharistic Minister, delivering Holy Communion to those who were homebound. Family was DiAnna’s true passion and delight. She had a huge heart and easily spread her love to those that were forgotten or were difficult to love. With her family being the thing that brought her true happiness, she always looked forward to all of the family gatherings. She also found time to enjoy traveling, playing cards, and visiting the casino, where she could be found playing the slot machines.
DiAnna will be dearly missed by her husband of 51 years, Jose A. Gonzalez, Sr., her son, Jose Gonzalez, Jr., her daughter, D’Aviaghn, a granddaughter, Danielle Mercer, brothers; Roger (Sharon) Machi, Chester (Pam) Cobb, Curtis Thomas, and Larry (Debbie) Thomas, her sisters; Mary (Danny) Mercer, Pamela (Larry) Justice, and Deborah Rogers. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Delbert Santonio, a sister, Ida Santonio, nephew, Curtis Thomas, Jr., mother-in-law, Amparo Cruz-Gonzalez, father-in-law, Nicolas Gonzalez, and brothers-in-law; Carlos Rogers, Leonardo Badillo, Jose “Cheo” Velez, and Luis Velez.
The family will receive friends on Monday, June 25, 2018 from 10:00 am until the time of her funeral service at 11:00 am, at the Dovin and Reber Jones Funeral & Cremation Center, 1110 Cooper Foster Park Road, Amherst. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
