Dolores Ann Koppenhafer's Obituary
Dolores Ann Koppenhafer (nee Folea), age 88, of Amherst,
passed away on Saturday, March 31, 2018 at Mercy Regional Medical Center,
Lorain.
She was born on October 28, 1929 in Mt. Clemons, MI and moved to this area
in about 1933. She was employed as a Radiation Technician for Dr. Russell
and Dr. Berkibile for many years, until retirement.
Dolores always kept busy with her memberships to various clubs, groups,
and organizations as well as her numerous hours of volunteer work. She was
a past member of the Lebanese Syrian Club, past board member of the
Lakeland’s Women’s Group, Board member of the International Festival and
the International Princess Committee. She was one of the original Board
members of the Lorain Civic Center, who
purchased the Palace Theater Building in Lorain. She was a NJROTC booster
club member for Lorain Admiral King High School. When she wasn’t
attending board meetings and club get-togethers, Dolores proudly served
her community and volunteered hundreds of hours to Mercy Regional
Medical Center, Lorain. One of her most treasured times were spent
traveling thousands of miles across the country while riding on the back of
her husband’s motorcycle with the Blue Knights Motorcycle Club.
Dolores will be greatly missed by her family and everyone who knew her.
She will be dearly missed by her husband, Arthur, her daughter, Gale
Rodriguez, grandsons; Nelson Rodriguez, Jr., and David Rodriguez, and her
great granddaughter, Sophya Medina.
The family will be holding services at a later date. The Dovin and Reber
Jones Funeral & Cremation Center, Amherst, is assisting the family with
arrangements.
Contributions, in her memory, are suggested to be made to either St. Jude’s
Research Children’s Hospital, Memorial ID #11265989, 1-800-822-6344
or to the Mercy Health Foundation Lorain, 440-960-3545.
The Koppenhafer family wishes to extend their extensive gratitude to Mercy Regional Medical Center for all of their support in her final days. In closing, Dolores carried the following poem with her for many years and her family saw great meaning in it. Because it was so dear to her, they found it fitting to share with everyone.
When I am Dead,
Cry for me a little.
Think of me sometimes,
But not too much.
It is not good for you,
Or your wife or your husband or your children,
To allow your thoughts to dwell too long on the dead.
Think of me now and again
As I was in life.
At some moment
Which is pleasant to recall.
But not for long.
Leave me in peace
As I shall leave you too, in peace.
While you live,
Let your thoughts be with the living.
