Domingo Biron Bernal's Obituary
Domingo Biron Bernal, born in Tabaco, Albay, Philippines on May 12, 1944 and came to the United States in 1968. He studied mechanical engineering at the Far Eastern University. He also studied electronics at the Cleveland Institute of Electronics eventually graduating with a FEC license. Domingo’s career was established at the former Lorain Products as a technician. He was a lifelong member of the Filipino American Society of Ohio.
He was very proud to have a black belt in Karate and shared his love of the sport by instructing martial arts with the Luis Bonilla’s karate school. Domingo enjoyed fishing and watching football, especially the Browns and Buckeyes. He also enjoyed helping wherever he could, lending his talents as a handyman and being the “Jack of all trades.” One of Domingo’s favorite hobbies was traveling and was fortunate enough to have visited 52 countries throughout his life.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Perla (nee Briones); children, Salva Gracia (David), Dominic (Rebecca), and David (Clea); grandchildren, Anjali, Michael, Jacob, Madeline, Alyssa, and Alexander; and his siblings, Asuncion, Aida, Erlinda, Fe, Rodrigo and Andres. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Domingo was preceded in death by his parents, Agustine, Sr. and Concordia Bernal and brothers, Agustine, Jr., Jaime, and Francisco.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, December 22, 2022 from 4 – 7 pm in the Dovin and Reber Jones Funeral & Cremation Center, 1110 Cooper Foster Park Road, Amherst. His funeral service will be on Friday, at 12:30 pm, also in the funeral center. Rev. Richard Gonser, retired Pastor of St. Jude Church in Elyria, will officiate.
