Dominic R. Buccilli's Obituary
Dominic R. Buccilli, age 88, of Lorain passed away Wednesday, September 21, 2016 at Ames Family Hospice.
He was born on October 9, 1927 in Buffalo, New York to Albert and Mary (nee Libratore) Buccilli and graduated from Bugard High School in Buffalo, New York in 1944.
Dominic enlisted with the United States Army in 1944 serving his country in World War II. He was extremely proud to have served in the military. He was a life member the Italian American Veterans, serving as their State Commander from 1987-1998 and also served in their Honor Guard. He was also a lifetime member of the AMVETS, American Legion and the VFW. Dominic was the recipient of numerous awards for his outstanding service to various veterans’ organizations. He was also awarded the Lorain Veteran of the year in 1990.
He was employed as a general foreman with Ford Motor Company for 37 years and then went on to work in security for Lorain County Human Services for 11 years. He served on the Lorain Board of Health for 25 years and was volunteer for New Life Hospice.
Dominic enjoyed bowling, gardening and playing blackjack, traveling and volunteering.
He is survived by his children, Marilyn Perkowski, of Westlake, Linda Petrusch, of Dayton, Paula (John) Morris, of Lorain, and Lawrence( Roberta) Buccilli, of Lorain; grandchildren, Tamara (Tony) Cloud, Jason Skusa, Nicole (Tim) Reidy, Jacob (Melinda) Morris, Amanda (Aaron) Likavec, and Steven Perkowski; great-grandchildren, Kyle and Kayla Cloud, Adreona Perkowski, Sofia, Graden and Jocelyn Likavec, and Dominic R. Morris, and Isla N. Reidy; brother, Albert Buccilli Jr., of Depew, NY.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Dominic was preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Frances, in 1995; his son, Steven, in 1976; son-in-law, Raymond Petrusch; parents, Albert and Mary Buccilli; and his sisters, Delores Malark, Marie Malark, and Jeanette Buccilli.
The Buccilli family will receive friends on Sunday, September 25, 2016 from 1:00 – 6:00 p.m. in the Dovin and Reber Jones Funeral & Cremation Center, 11110 Cooper Foster Park Road, Amherst where funeral services will be held on Monday, September 26th. at 11:00 a.m. Pastor Charles Livermore will officiate .Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery, Lorain. Military Honors will be conducted by the I.A.V. Color Guard.
In lieu of flowers the family suggest contributions be made in memory of Dominic to a hospice of your choice.
