Dominick J Ciarrone's Obituary
It is with great sadness we announce the death of Dominick J. Ciarrone, 97, of Lorain, Ohio, who passed away peacefully on Friday, March 21 after a brief illness.
Dominick, one of six children, was born on July 12, 1927, to Italian immigrant parents. After graduating from Lorain High School, he went on to serve in the U.S. Navy during and after WWII, enlisting at the age of 17. After his military service, Dominick went on to study Industrial Engineering at the Ohio State University, graduating in 1950.
Dominick was employed for 37 years at Lorain’s Nelson Stud Welding, which was eventually bought by TRW.
Dominick married his high school sweetheart, Jean Ann Fior (Lorain, OH) on August 27, 1949. Together they raised 6 children; Michael (Sandi Miller), Paul, John (Maureen Galvin), Richard, (Linda Rink), James (Margaret Orasko), and Kay (Mario Pavicic).
In 1987, Dominick retired from TRW and spent his time reading, playing golf, following the Ohio State Buckeyes, and watching his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Dominick could also be found enjoying a good cigar from time to time. In his younger years, he played on the Fatty’s Sports Club Class A fast pitch softball team, winning the 1952 state Amateur Softball Association Championship with 43 wins and only 6 loses. He was a long-time member of St. Peter’s Parish.
Dominick was preceded in death by his parents (Croce and Caroline), sisters (Edith and Julie), brothers (Victor and Tony). He is survived by one brother, (Roger). Dominick is survived by his 6 children, 12 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
Family and friends will be received on Thursday, March 27, 2025, from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. at the Dovin and Reber Jones Funeral & Cremation Center, 1110 Cooper Foster Park Road, Amherst, Ohio. Closing prayers will be held on Friday, March 28, 2025, at 9:00 a.m. in the funeral center, followed by Mass of Christian Burial, at 9:30 a.m. at Church of St. Peter, 3655 Oberlin Ave., Lorain, Ohio. Interment will take place at Calvary Cemetery.
