Donald O. Harper's Obituary
Donald O. Harper, age 90, of Amherst Twp., passed away Friday, July 24, 2015 at his home in the arms of his loving family.
He was born on June 2, 1925 to Lloyd and Barbara (nee Kazee) Harper in Logan, West Virginia. He graduated from Logan High School in 1943.
Donald was a United States Navy Veteran who served his Country in World War II, receiving numerous medals including the Pacific Theater Ribbon, Presidential Fleet Citation, the Philippine Liberation with 1 Star, the Victory Medal and Bronze Star.
He made his career at Ford Motor Company, BrookPark, and was proud to be a union member.
Donald had a full life enjoying his family, farming and being the patriarch of his family.
He is survived by his sons, James (Carol) Whitt, and Donald (Sharon) Harper; and daughter, Barbara (Mike) Rider; grandchildren, Amber, Heather (Garrett), Kristie (Matt), Chris (Melanie), Stacy (Anthony), Nicole (Sean), Tricia (Mike), Robert and Tom (Virginia); great-grandchildren, Jacob, Bradley, Julian, Brandon, Gavin, Jaiden, Blake, and Michael.
Donald was preceded in death by his loving wife, Phyllis; parents, Lloyd and Barbara; brothers, Darwin, Nelson, and Thurston; and his sister, Cassie Marie “Tootsie”
Donald will be remembered as a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. His greatest joy was his family.

The Harper family will receive friends on Monday, July 27, 2015 from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. in the Dovin and Reber Jones Funeral & Cremation Center, 1110 Cooper Foster Park Road, Amherst where services will be held at 3:00 p.m. immediately following the visitation. Dr. Jeffrey Smale, Pastor of Victory Baptist Temple, will officiate. Interment will follow at Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst Twp. with Military Honors conducted by the Amherst Veterans Honor Guard.
