Dr. Donald Lewis Zaworski D.D.S.'s Obituary
Dr. Donald Lewis Zaworski D.D.S., age 87, of Amherst passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on Tuesday, October 4, 2016.
Donald was born on July 28, 1929 in Lorain, Ohio to Dominic Louis and Vera M. (nee Lauer) Zaworski. He graduated from Lorain St. Mary’s High School in 1947, The Ohio State University in 1958 with a Bachelor of Science Degree and Case Western Reserve School of Dental Medicine in 1963.
In 1949, Donald enlisted with the United States Air Force serving at the rank of 1st. Lieutenant. While enlisted he went through Pilot training from August 1951 – September 1952. He was honorably discharged on August 6, 1956 and was the recipient of the National Defense Service Medal.
Donald made his career as a dentist for 53 years in private practice. He also served as a Dental Consultant for 12 years with Medical Mutual of Ohio.
He was an active member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Amherst where he attended daily Mass and served as a Eucharistic Minister. He was also a member of the American Dental Association, Ohio Dental Association, Cleveland Dental Society and the Lorain County Dental Society, where he was a past President.
Donald enjoyed photography, woodworking and practicing dentistry, where he did much charitable work within his practice.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Nancy G. (nee Ryan); children, Donald W. (Beth) Zaworski, David A. (Krystina) Zaworski and Mary C. (Dr. Francis, deceased, in 2013) Bartek; grandchildren, Emily Herrmann, J.T. Engelhardt, Donald Zaworski, Arne Hogg, F. Scott Hogg, W. Ryan Zaworski, Marion Zaworski, Catherine Zaworski, Dominic Pecze, Gabriel Pecze, and Matthew Bartek; 5 great-grandchildren; brothers, Dr. Daniel C. Zaworski, and David M. (Kathy) Zaworski; sister, Jean M. (Edward) Stransky; and several nieces and nephews.
The Zaworski family will receive friends on Friday, October 14, 2016 from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. in the Dovin and Reber Jones Funeral & Cremation Center, 1110 Cooper Foster Park Road, Amherst. Closing prayers will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, October 15th. at the funeral center followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 1:00 p.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 200 St. Joseph Drive, Amherst. Rev. Fr. Theodore Marszal and Rev. Fr. Timothy O’Connor will con-celebrate the Mass. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
