Dorothy "Red" Talbot's Obituary
Dorothy “Red” Talbot (nee Farrow) 90, passed away at her home Sunday, September 12, 2021. Her family was at her bedside. Dorothy Talbot was born in Bellevue, Ohio on July 28, 1931, to the late Thomas Farrow & Elise Ruffing Farrow. She is preceded in death by her sisters Kathryn (Kate) Roren and Jeanne Farrow. Dorothy was a long-time resident of Lorain. She graduated from Lorain High, class of 1949. After graduation she married her husband and moved to Newport News, Virginia where she worked as an administrative assistant for an Admiral in the U.S. Navy. They left Virginia and returned to Lorain and began raising their family. Dorothy then enrolled at Kent State University where she graduated from in 1970 with her degree in Education. She taught for over 25 years in the Lorain City and Sheffield Lake Schools. Reading was her passion, and she shared this love with her Title 1 students. Dorothy was a member of St. Peter’s Parish where she spent many years working on the parish picnic. She was very active in the Lakeland Women’s Club where she served as an officer, and also spent many years as a presiding judge with the Lorain City Board of Elections. In addition, she enjoyed playing various card games with family and friends. Most of all she spent many summers riding roller coasters at Cedar Point and exploring the North Coast of Ohio with her grandchildren.
Dorothy is survived by her husband of 69 years Don “Gus” Talbot and children, Debra Talbot (Denver, Colorado), Denise Andersen (Annapolis, Maryland), Thomas Talbot and Timothy (Lisa) Talbot (Crofton, Maryland), grandchildren, Steven (Lauren) Andersen, Kristin (Brian) Hostetler, Nicki (Chuck) Carpenter, Emma (Justin) Robb, Alex Talbot, and Margaret Talbot, 5 great-grandchildren and her brother Tom Farrow (Hilton Head, SC)
Friends may call on Friday, November 12, 2021, from 3:00 – 7:00 p.m. in the Dovin and Reber Jones Funeral & Cremation Center, 1110 Cooper Foster Park Road, Amherst. Mass of Christina Burial will be held on Saturday, November 13th. at 11:00 a.m. at St. Peter’s Parish, 3655 Oberlin Ave., Lorain, Ohio. Rev. Father Frank P. Kosem, will officiate. Private family inurnment will take place.
