Douglas "Doug" Randall Pearce's Obituary
Douglas Randall “Doug” Pearce, 63, of Lorain, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, May 7, 2026, from an apparent heart attack.
Born January 17, 1962, in Lorain, Ohio, Doug was the son of Gene M. and Janice E. (nee Miller) Pearce. He graduated from Admiral King High School in 1980 and attended the Ohio State Agricultural Technical Institute (ATI) in Wooster, Ohio.
Doug dedicated his career to working as a Heavy Equipment Operator, a profession in which he was highly skilled, respected, and admired by both employers and fellow colleagues. He took tremendous pride in his work and craftsmanship throughout his many years within the industry of earthwork, excavation, and demolition. Doug was Head of Demolition Operations for Sitetech Inc. of Grafton, Ohio, and a proud member of the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 18.
Doug will be deeply missed by his sons, Jeremey T. (Stephanie) Pearce of Amherst and Matthew D. Pearce of Lorain; grandchildren, Colin Grimm, Jackson Pearce, and Coleman Pearce; his mother, Janice E. Pearce; sister, Cheryl (Mark) Menotti of Burke, Virginia; brother, David (Nola) Pearce of Rochester, New York; Doug’s partner of 26 years, Barbara Eitner; and his niece/nephews Grant Pearce, Veronica Menotti, Clark Pearce, Noah Menotti.
He was preceded in death by his father, Gene M. Pearce.
The family will receive friends on Friday, May 15, 2026, from 4:00 until 7:45 p.m. in the Dovin and Reber Jones Funeral & Cremation Center, 1110 Cooper Foster Park Road, Amherst. A funeral service will follow the visitation at 7:45 p.m. in the funeral center. Private family inurnment will take place at a later date at Resthaven Memory Gardens in Avon, Ohio.
