Edward Dugan's Obituary
Edward "Ed" Dugan, a beloved father, and grandfather passed away on Thursday, August 15, 2024, at O'Neill Healthcare in North Ridgeville at the age of 78. Born on October 9, 1945, in Lorain, Ohio, to John and Margaret Dugan, Ed led a life marked by dedication, passion, and love.
A 1962 graduate of Lorain St. Mary's High School, Ed went on to attend Kent State University, where he earned his Bachelor's Degree in Business. His professional life was dedicated to Ford Motor Company, where he served as an Industrial Engineer for over 35 years, retiring in 2000. His commitment to his work was paralleled only by his devotion to his family.
Ed was a man of many passions. He found immense joy in attending his grandchildren's sporting and school events, always their biggest supporter. An avid golfer, who achieved 2 holes in one, Ed was a proud member of both the AMVETS and Ford Motor Company golf leagues. His love for sports extended to his fervent support of the Cleveland Browns, where he held season tickets for over 30 years, as well as his affection for Notre Dame and The Ohio State Buckeyes.
Traveling brought Ed great pleasure, with memorable trips including cruises and visits to Las Vegas. He also had a knack for grilling, known widely for his delicious steaks and burgers, which brought family and friends together around the barbecue.
Ed is survived by his loving children, Kelly (Randy) Reber, Chris (Renee) Dugan, Colleen (Scott) Schuenaman, and Erin (Rob) Krause; and his cherished grandchildren, Megan (Tyler) Mullins, Matthew (fiancée, Jacquelyn Harris), Emily Dugan, John Dugan, Jacob Krause, and Madison Krause. He also leaves behind his sister-in-law, Joann Furiga; brother-in-law, Eugene Szakats; and nephew, Frank Furiga. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Donna, in 2021; his grandson, Brian Schuenaman; and his parents, John and Margaret Dugan.
The family will receive friends on Monday, August 19, 2024, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the Dovin and Reber Jones Funeral & Cremation Center, 1110 Cooper Foster Park Road, Amherst. Funeral services will immediately follow the visitation at 12:00 noon, officiated by Rev. Father Craig Hovanec, Pastor of St. Peter's Church. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
