Edward Paul Juristy Sr.'s Obituary
Edward Paul Juristy Sr. of Avon passed away on Thursday, July 18th, at home with his family by his side. He was born on April 27th, 1952, in Morgantown, West Virginia, and at the age of 10 moved to Lorain, Ohio, with his parents. Ed was a 1970 graduate of Admiral King High School, where he met and later married his high school sweetheart, Andra. After high school, Ed enlisted in the Army and served two years in Germany during the Vietnam War. “Big Ed,” as he was known by friends, retired from the Ohio Turnpike Commission in 2008 after 27 years of service. Ed enjoyed tinkering in the garage with his cars, trucks, and motorcycle. You often found him playing his acoustic guitar on the back patio or just watching the birds and chipmunks with his wife. His homestead was his pride and joy. His other interests included collecting U.S. coins and betting on the daily lotto. He also had a knack for cooking up his own recipes of homestyle cuisine that never disappointed his family.
He is survived by his son, Edward Juristy Jr. (Dana); daughter, Erin Brunner (Jeff); grandchildren, Jenna, Devin, Peyton, and Palmer; and sisters, Tina Sayler (Kevin) and Mary Ann Juristy. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 45 years, Andra (nee Arnoczky), and his parents, Frank and Frances Juristy (nee Phillips).
Friends will be received on Friday, July 26th, 2024 from 8:30 – 9:30 am at Dovin and Reber Jones Funeral & Cremation Center, 1110 Cooper Foster Park Road, Amherst. Inurnment, with military honors, will follow at 10:00 am at Resthaven Memory Gardens, Avon. To send an online condolence, please visit www.dovinreberjones.com.
