Elaine R. Carlson's Obituary
Elaine R. Carlson (nee Koons), age 80, of Lorain, went to be with the Lord, on Wednesday, December 31, 2014 at Fairview Hospital. She was born on December 11, 1934 in Lorain and was a lifelong resident. She graduated from Lorain High School in 1952.
She was known as the “Voice of Lorain City Schools” for many years, where she retired and also received a Proclamation from the former Mayor Olejko for her kind, compassionate love towards others. She was also known for her famous “Blue Ribbon Cheesecake”.
She enjoyed watching NASCAR Racing, especially Jeff Gordon, was an avid Browns, Buckeye and Indians fan; and always enjoyed spending time with family and friends.
She is survived by her husband of 38 years, Carl Carlson Jr.; sons, Mark (Susan) Wickline, of Amherst, David (Jill) Wickline, of Lorain; sisters, Norrene Speckhart, of Elyria, and Loretta (Bob) Raeburn, of Lorain; grandsons, Mark, Timothy and Matthew; and one great-grandson, Jax Franklin; step-children, Melinda and Kathy and several step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Elaine was preceded in death by her parents, Irvine and Ivy Koons; and a step-son, Marty.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, January, 4, 2015 from 2:00 – 5:00 p.m. in the Dovin and Reber Jones Funeral & Cremation Center, 1110 Cooper Foster Park Road, Amherst where funeral services will be held on Monday, January 5th. at 11:00 a.m. Rev. Chris Lalonde, Pastor, of Cornerstone United Methodist Church, Elyria, will officiate. Interment will follow at Ridgehill Memorial Park, Amherst Twp.
