Elizabeth Eleanor "Ellie" LaValley's Obituary
Elizabeth Eleanor “Ellie” LaValley (Thomas) went to be with her Lord on May 8, 2025 with family at her side. She was born in Freeport, Ohio on January 31, 1934 to Theodore and Ethel Thomas. The family moved to Lorain in 1943. Ellie graduated from Lorain High School in 1952, married Albert LaValley in 1953 and welcomed three (3) children.
Ellie worked at Lorain National Bank until her retirement, at which time her and Albert lived in various cities in Florida for over 30 years; the last being The Villages. Ellie enjoyed golfing and playing various board games with her friends in Florida. She returned to Lorain in 2012 to be with family.
Ellie is survived by her children Linda Shlapack, Mark LaValley and Kathy LaValley (Brad Balmert). She is also survived by siblings Ronald Thomas and Irene Smith. Ellie was preceded in death by her husband, Albert, in 2021.
Ellie’s family would like to thank the staff at Anchor Lodge Nursing Home for their care and support for the past 9 months and thank Wellsprings Hospice for their care these past 4 weeks. Ellie would regularly partake in Bingo and the wonderful activities at Anchor Lodge.
Private family interment was held on Monday, May 12, 2025 at Ridge Hill Memorial Park. Donations can be made to Anchor Lodge “Activities Fund”, 3756 W Erie Ave, Lorain, OH 44053
