Ellen Jane Burge's Obituary
Ellen Jane Burge, née Struble, passed suddenly at her home in Lorain, Ohio, on October 14, 2017. She was 74.
Born to Duane and Irene Struble (née Hiatt) in Bryan, Ohio, Ellen graduated from Fairview High School in 1961. She went on to graduate from Ohio State University in 1965.
Ellen worked throughout her life as a fearless advocate for those in need, dedicating 19 years to Lorain County Children’s Services. Post-retirement, she continued to help protect and support others at the Haven Center in Lorain.
A fiercely independent spirit like Ellen cannot easily be forgotten. Her love for her children, her sisters, her partner, and her animals was evident in everything she did. Whether she was sailing the waters of Lake Erie or exploring the ruins of Central America, she never lost her connections to those who were most important to her. She will be missed terribly.
Ellen was preceded in death by her parents, Duane and Irene Struble. She is survived by her son Jason(Michelle)Burge of Vermilion, Ohio and daughter Jennifer(Dennis)Burge of Brisbane, Australia; grandchildren Quentin Laurenti and Justin (Katie) Laurenti. She is also survived by her sister Judith Baublitz, who lives in Asheville, NC and her sister Shirley(Zyg)Skrobanski, who resides in Roswell, GA.
Ellen’s life will be celebrated at a non-denominational service at 7pm, on October 30th, 2017, at the Dovin and Reber Jones Funeral & Cremation Center, 1110 Cooper Foster Park Road, Amherst. Visitation will begin at 6pm. The family suggests that a donation in her name at the Friendship Animal Protective League of Lorain County would be a welcome tribute to her memory. https://www.friendshipapl.org/donate-online/"
