Ellen M Madaras' Obituary
Ellen M. Madaras, longtime resident of Amherst, Ohio, age 82, passed away on Wednesday, January 10, 2024, at Mercy New Life Hospice Center. She was born on March 7, 1941, in Eunice, West Virginia, to Harry Franklin and Mary (nee Fesko) Brown. Ellen graduated from Berea High School in 1958 and went on to lead a fulfilling life marked by dedication, and love for her family.
For many years, Ellen worked in clerical roles for the Ohio Turnpike and later retired from Shan-Rod in Berlin Heights. Known for her task-oriented nature, she was a meticulous housekeeper and loving, nurturing and helpful mother.
Ellen had a passion for bowling followed by and interest in dancing with her husband. However, her true joy came from family gatherings at her home, where friends and family would come together around the swimming pool, sharing meals, and creating lasting memories.
During her time in assisted living, Ellen found joy in playing bingo, adding a touch of fun to her daily life. Her commitment to family was unwavering, and she cherished moments spent with her daughter, Darlene (Thomas) Balint, her son, Gary (Patricia) Madaras, and her grandchildren, Shelby (nee Balint) (Alex) McCarty, Christine Balint, Evie, and Kinzey Madaras. She was also blessed with a great-grandson, John Brooks McCarty.
Ellen is survived by her sisters, Mary Jane Reiser and Georgia Davis, and her brothers, Danny, and David Brown. She was preceded in death by her husband, William, her parents Harry and Mary Brown, her sister, Shirley Christmas, and her brother, William Brown.
Private family funeral services will be held to honor and remember Ellen M. Madaras. The arrangements are under the direction of the Dovin and Reber Jones Funeral & Cremation Center.
