Emma Louise Smith's Obituary
Emma Louise Smith (nee Mace), age 73, of Camden Township, passed away on
Saturday, October 22, 2022 at Cleveland Clinic Avon Hospital, Richard E. Jacobs
Campus, after a long battle with lung cancer.
She was born on May 18, 1949 in South Charleston, W. VA to Earl and Mary
Frances (nee Warner) Mace. Emma worked for Fred Haddad as his secretary at
Hecks Department store before moving to Ohio in 1972 where she continued to
live.
Emma loved being a wife and mother who so proudly raised her children and
grandchildren. Emma had a strong faith in God and never lost that faith. She took
great care of her flowers and garden and was a phenomenal cook. When she had
time, she liked to sit down and crochet, knit, cross stitch, work on crossword
puzzles, and play various computer games. Recently, she even became a Cleveland
Guardians fan and enjoyed cheering them on.
Emma is survived by her husband, Michael Douglas Smith, of Oberlin; her sister
April Snodgrass and husband Rick, of Charleston, West Virginia; her 5 children,
Tiffany Smith, Lorenda Smith and husband Bobby Sparks, Andy Smith and wife
April, Jackie Barnett, and Barbara Thompson and husband David; her
Grandchildren, Brian Smith, Victoria Barnett, Rachael Henry, Jacob Smith, Hailey
Smith, Hannah Smith, Cathleen Sparks, Kearstin Thompson, Chloe Thompson,
and Owen Smith; and her great-grandchildren, Ryleigh Hasel, Benjamin Yoder and
Rosalynn Yoder.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, October 30th, 2022 from 1:00 pm until
the time of her memorial service at 3:00 pm in the Dovin and Reber Jones Funeral
& Cremation Center, 1110 Cooper Foster Park Road, Amherst. Rev. Chuck
Livermore will officiate. To send an online condolence, please go to www.dovinreberjones.com
