Emma E. Stransky's Obituary
Emma E. Stransky (nee Tocchi), age 95 passed away on Tuesday, January 10, 2023 at her home surrounded by her loved ones.
She was born on July 1, 1927 in Royal, Pennsylvania to Serafino and Olive (nee Ortenzi) Tocchi. At the age of 3 months her family moved to Lorain, Ohio where she lived all her life with the exception of living in Scottsdale, Arizona from 1974- 1976.
Emma graduated from Lorain High School Class of 1945-B. She attended Miami University from 1945- 1946 and Lorain Business College in 1978 where she studied Secretarial courses.
She held numerous secretarial jobs throughout her adult life at US Steel (1946-1951), Lorain City Schools (1952-1956). Stransky’s Welding (1960- 1974), Kelly Girl (BF Goodrich/Southview School (1978-1979), and finally retiring from her Executive Secretary position to the Vice President of Nursing at Lorain Community Hospital in 1990. Upon her retirement she worked at the Lorain County Board of Elections for several years.
Throughout her years, Emma volunteered at various Lorain Schools, was active at School PTA’s, St. Peter’s Mission Group, Lakeland Women’s Club, and the Pinochle Club. She was a devout Catholic whose faith was very special to her. She said a daily rosary and was a member of St. Peter’s Church in Lorain.
She immensely enjoyed entertaining and corresponding with family and friends, and her various trips to casinos. She also enjoyed reading, watching game shows, and listening to music in which she was especially fond of Merle Haggard in recent years. But throughout her life, Emma’s greatest enjoyment came from dancing with her beloved husband, Stanley, especially after their retirement. They would follow the Al Battistelli Band all around the state, country, and Europe in which they met new lifelong friends sharing fun and laughter wherever they went.
Emma is survived by her children, Robert (Ruth) Stransky, of Highland Hts., NV, Dale (Marlene) Stransky, of Carson City, NV, and Renee Reasoner, of Grafton, OH; grandchildren, Travis (Sheila) Stransky, Trent (Kylie) Stransky, Tracie (Kevin) Breckenridge, Tricia (Nabeel) Parsley, Megan (Zack) Reasoner, and Michael Reasoner.; great grandchildren, Madison, Annalise, Lily, and Emy, Addy Stransky, Robby Breckenridge, Brooke Parsley, James, Miranda, Katlyn Burgess; friends like daughters, Madeline Zaworski and Pam Falasco; the Steel Magnolias, Leatta Battistelli, Connie Machulsky, Betty Lou Pataky, Nancy Szeto (deceased), Lil Hastings (deceased), and Louise Battistelli (deceased).
She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Stanley, in 2004; parents, Serafino and Olive Tocchi; sister, Eleanor Argenti; and infant baby brother, Joseph Tocchi.
The family will receive friends on Monday, January 16, 2023 from 3:00 – 7:00 p.m. in the Dovin and Reber Jones Funeral & Cremation center, 1110 Cooper Foster Park Road, Amherst. Closing prayers will be said on Tuesday, January 17, 2023, at 10:30 a.m. in the funeral center followed by Mass of Christian Burial at St. Peter Parish, 3655 Oberlin Ave., Lorain, at 11:00 a.m. Rev. Father Craig Hovanec, Pastor, will officiate. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
