I met Ernie through my friendship with Dee, and we became fast friends. We watched many baseball games together, enjoyed many great meals, worked around the house together, and discussed everything from health and politics to the weather. I could trust Ernie, confided in him, and knew I could talk to him about anything.
Ernie had so many qualities that are so rare in people. Beyond his incredible wisdom, wit and humor, I found him to be determined, yet patient, grounded, always knowing what is important and what is not, and encouraging, thoughtful, and generous. All of these things are what I value in a person, and I am ultimately describing Ernie when I say the word "friend".
I am so grateful for having known Ernie. I am going to miss him so much. Ernie was an All - American. Honest, brave, and true. He was my buddy.

Ernie touched my heart so deeply. I had heard about Ernie and Shirley for years before I met them. However, when I met Ernie I loved him immediately and only grew to adore him even more as time passed.
I knew when I met Ernie, Dee's kindness, intelligence and humore came from this incredible man!!
I will miss talking to him on the phone, sitting with him on the coudh and catching up, and him calling me his "Little Lamb"! Most of all I will miss his prayers for me every night!! I know God listened to Ernie's prayers!! I know Ernie will be looking out for me from heaven! I only regret that we do not have him here!
I will miss you so much Ernie!

Ernie was without a doubt the most down to earth incredible man I have ever had the good fortune to meet. Not a mean bone in his body and a mind that was so sharp. He could here a persons birthday just once and always remember it. He was so increadibly wise, with a lifetime of experiences under his belt and yet he never forgot his humble roots. His devotion to his wife and family was so admirable, they were his everything, his life.

I will miss watching him have a screwdriver and telling his stories and jokes, or just sitting and watching a baseball or football game with him.

I have met thousands of people through out my travels, yet never one that has touched my heart like Ernie. I am truly a better person for having him in my life. He truely was one in a million!

I will miss you BUDDY!

What an honor and privelege it was to have known Ernie and to become his friend. I only knew him personally for about 1 1/2 years, but in the short time, he left a footprint on my heart that will last a lifetime.

I have heard about Ernie and Shirley for many years, and seen pictures of them from their devoted and loving daughter. Dee would tell so many stories about her "Papa". It was so nice to have finally met him in person and to see what a wonderful man he was.

He had a heart of gold, and was so caring to all his family and friends. There as not a mean bone in his body. He loved to tell Jokes, and was a great story teller. I will miss the times I had sitting next to him at Dee's house and just shooting the breeze. He had a way of making everyone he talked to feel important and was genuinely interested in what they had to say.

I will remember the fun times, the Murdery Mystery dinner party where Ernie was the star of the show as "Papa Vito", and fondly remember seeing him two weeks ago while decorating Dee's XMAS tree, and having a great dinner with him. And of course, his sense of humor was the best. I will miss him having his favorite screw driver drink with Sunny Delight, and hearing about his stories about going to the Senior Activity Center.

Without a doubt, he has touched my heart, and I will never forgot this wonderful, loving man. It was such an honor to call him a friend.
