Estella Helen Stickler's Obituary
Estella Helen Stickler (nee Matchison) 85, of Lorain, passed away Saturday, January 24, 2015 at Amherst Manor Retirement Community following a lengthy illness.
Born May 26, 1929 in Clymer, Pennsylvania, she came to Lorain in the early 1940’s. Helen graduated from Lorain High School in 1947B.
Prior to her getting married, Helen worked at National Tube as a secretary. In the late 1960’s, she worked at Lincoln Park in Lorain as a waitress.
Helen was a member of Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church, Lorain, and the Ladies Auxiliary of both the Veterans of Foreign War Post 1662 and the American Legion Post 118.
She was an accomplished seamstress having sewed cloths, costumes and brides maid dresses for her children. She loved gardening and canning, baking and making themed birthday cakes, and cooking.
Surviving are her sons, Ronald (Cor) Michaels of Amherst, Donald (Jeannie) Michaels of Sandusky, Michael (Susan) Michaels of San Diego; daughters, Lynn (Al) Flowers of Elyria, Mary Jo Hudak and Patricia (Jim) Pisegna both of Amherst; 4 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 40 years, Charles D. Stickler in 2008; her parents, John and Josephine (nee Semyczyk) Matchison; brothers, John, Joseph and Michael; sisters Mary, Kataryna and Elizabeth.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 3:00 – 8:00 in the Dovin and Reber Jones Funeral & Cremation Center, 1110 Cooper Foster Park Road, Amherst, where funeral services will be Wednesday at 9:30 am followed by mass at 10:00 am at Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church, 418 W. 15th Street, Lorain. Rev. Robert J. Glepko, pastor will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
