Eugene Adams Sr.'s Obituary
Eugene “CoCo” Adams Sr., age 63, of Lorain passed away Wednesday, January 21, 2015 at Fairview Hospital.
He was born on April 24, 1951 in Amherst, Ohio to Elbert and Julia (nee Costanzo) Adams. Eugene was a 1969 graduate of Admiral King High School and received a Certificate of Small Engine Repair from Lorain County JVS in 1996.
Eugene retired from U.S. Steel in 2003 after 34 years of service. He was a member of the Church of St. Peter in Lorain, The Amherst Eagles, the VFW Post 1662 and the United Steelworkers Local 1104.
He was a hardworking man who was a very devoted and loving father. He had an easy going personality and a zest for life. Eugene loved to laugh and make others laugh. He had a passion for race car driving and was legendary for driving supermodifier race cars. In Eugene’s retirement years, he enjoyed working on race cars, riding his Harley Davidson, and fishing with friends.
Eugene is survived by his daughter, Crystal Lynn Adams, of Elyria; his son, Eugene Adams Jr., of Elyria; granddaughter, Julieona Louise Adams; and his sisters, Cynthia (Dennis) Delboccio, of Lorain and Sharli (Ken) Herda, of Lorain.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Elbert and Julia Adams; and his brother, Steve Adams.
The Adams family will receive friends on Wednesday, February 4, 2015 from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. in the Dovin and Reber Jones Funeral & Cremation Center, 1110 Cooper Foster Park Road, Amherst. A Celebration of Life Service will follow the visitation at 7:00 p.m. in the funeral center. Pastor Dan Samms, will officiate. Private family inurnment will take place at a later date.
In lieu of flowers the family suggest contributions be made to the Eugene Adams Sr. Memorial Fund at any Fifth Third Bank Branch.
