Eva Burgett's Obituary
Eva (Ewa) Burgett (nee Łęcka), loving and devoted mother and wife, passed away peacefully after a long illness on Thursday, October 13, 2022, at Mercy New Life Hospice in Lorain surrounded by family. Eva was preceded in death by her parents, Bronisława and Władysław Łęccy of Zabierzów, Poland, and her sister Krystyna Rusek (Łęcka), of Nowa Huta, Poland.
Eva was born in Skawina, Poland on March 12, 1951, and received her degree in pharmacy and worked as a pharmacist in Kraków. She immigrated to the United States in 1980 at the age of 29 and began a new life as a self-taught and adept tailor, who worked for various local tailor shops, including at the former Mischka Tailor Shop in Amherst, Ohio and most recently at Ridge Cleaners in Avon Lake, Ohio. Eva also ran an at-home business performing advanced alterations on garments, formal wear, and apparel. She appreciated all her customers. In addition, Eva was an avid gardener and nature enthusiast who was also very talented and passionate in baking and interior decorating. She had been a parishioner of the former St. Joseph’s Church of Lorain and acquired her U.S. Citizenship on August 19, 2011. Above all, she was a devoted, loving mother and wife who enjoyed spending time with her daughters and husband and had a unique sense of humor that brought joy to all who knew her.
Eva is survived by her husband of 40 years, James Burgett of Lorain; her daughters, Renata Burgett-Kramp (Gregory) of Maumee, Ohio; Monica Burgett-Oleksy (Marcin) of Lorain; her brother, Tadeusz Łęcki of Zabierzów, Poland; as well as nieces, nephews, and their children who reside in Poland.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, October 18th, 2022 from 5 – 8 pm in the Dovin and Reber Jones Funeral & Cremation Center, 1110 Cooper Foster Park Road, Amherst. Friends will also be received on Wednesday from 9:00 am until the time of her Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 32929 Lake Road, Avon Lake. Rev. Fr. Ronald J.
