Fern "Jeep" Fulton's Obituary
Fern R. “Jeep” Fulton, age 89, of Lorain, died on Thursday, October 28, 2010 at Carolina Medical Center in Charlotte, North Carolina following a sudden illness.
He was born on July 12, 1921 in West Salem, Ohio. In the early 1940’s, he came to Lorain County and has resided in Lorain. He and his wife spent the winter months in St. Cloud, Florida.
Fern served in the US Navy during World War II as Boatswain’s Mate Second Class.
He worked at Superior Electric in Elyria as a buyer, retiring from there about 30 years ago. Prior to that, he worked as a manager at the Charles Rivitz Electric on 28th Street in Lorain. He was also an owner of 12 Charles Chip franchises within the County.
He was a member of the former St. Vitus Church in Lorain. He served as a past president of Lorain Little League and more recently a past president of St. Cloud Civic Center in Florida. Fern also kept busy at the Senior Center for the Ohio Club in Florida as a caller for square dances.
He is survived by his wife 68 years, Katherine “Katie” (nee Nemec); his son, Gerald “Jerry” and partner, Tom Thomas, of Lorain and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Virgil Fulton and his sister, Hazel Kinney Bowman.
Upon his own wishes, Fern was cremated.
