Florence Gilles' Obituary
Florence "Flo" Gilles, age 79, of Lorain, Ohio, passed away on Wednesday, January 3, 2024, at Autumn Aegis Nursing Home, under the compassionate care of Wellspring Hospice. Her life, a tapestry woven with love, commitment, and cherished memories, began on April 7, 1944, in Little Washington, Pennsylvania, as the beloved daughter of Leonard Brosky and Pauline Florence Brosky Binder.
Flo's journey through life was marked by her kind spirit and unwavering dedication. She graduated from Admiral King High School in 1963, embarking on a career that reflected her commitment to service. Initially working at Smith and Gerhart Department Store, Flo found her true calling in the cleaning industry. Her professional tenure spanned years dedicated to enhancing the cleanliness and order of homes and offices, where she showcased her talents with Maintenance King and in private capacities, culminating in her well-deserved retirement in 2020.
Faith anchored Flo's life, and she was a member of Nativity BVM Catholic Church, Lorain. Her devotion extended to participation in the Knights of St. John Ladies Auxiliary 46 and the St. Joseph Church, Lorain Ladies Guild. Beyond her professional and communal endeavors, Flo found joy in various hobbies, including bowling, ceramics, and her culinary pursuits, where her skillful cooking delighted many.
Yet, amidst her diverse interests, Flo's greatest joy came from the moments she spent with her cherished family—her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Her unconditional love and unwavering support shaped beautiful memories that will endure through generations.
Florence Gilles leaves behind a legacy cherished by her daughters, Lenore Hales, and Lisa (William) Ritter; grandchildren, Nicholas Krevinko, Jessika Henline, and Justin Henline; great-grandchildren, Hailey Henline, Kameron Corales, and Jasper Henline; her brother, Joseph (Joann) Brosky; and her sister, Mary Mezlak; stepbrother, John Binder; and stepsister, Kathy Binder. She was preceded in death by her son, Leonard, and her parents, Leonard Brosky and Pauline Florence Brosky Binder.
The family will receive friends on Monday, January 8, 2024, from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. at the Dovin and Reber Jones Funeral & Cremation Center, 1110 Cooper Foster Park Road, Amherst. Closing prayers will be held on Tuesday, January 9th. at 10:15 a.m. in the funeral center, followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. at Nativity BVM Catholic Church, 418 W. 15th. Street, Lorain, officiated by Rev. Father Craig Hovanec, pastor. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
