Frances Gelman Bowen's Obituary
Frances Gelman Bowen, a beloved soul with a magnetic personality that drew everyone close, passed away on Sunday, November 5, 2023, at Amherst Manor Nursing Home. Born on March 29, 1941, in Lorain, Ohio, to Abraham and Gertrude Gelman, Frances left an indelible mark on those who knew her.
Frances graduated from Lorain High School in 1959 and embarked on a career that showcased her caring nature. For several years, she dedicated herself to Lorain Community Hospital and later found joy in serving the community at McDonald's in Amherst, Ohio. Her warm spirit and genuine kindness endeared her to all who crossed her path.
A devoted member of Agudath Bnai Israel Synagogue in Lorain, Frances found solace and community in her faith. She had a special affinity for animals, especially cats, and her love for them added an extra layer of compassion to her already tender heart.
Her joys were simple yet profound—delighting in the timeless tunes of the 60s, 70s, and 80s, savoring the flavors of pizza, and creating beautiful melodies on the piano. Frances's zest for life was infectious, and her presence lit up any room she entered.
Above all, Frances cherished her only son, Abraham Bowen, with an immeasurable love, and they shared a bond that transcended time and space. Her legacy lives on through the memories and the love she shared with those closest to her.
Frances Gelman Bowen was preceded in death by her parents, Abraham and Gertrude Gelman, and her brother, Jack Gelman. Funeral services, under the direction of the Dovin and Reber Jones Funeral & Cremation Center, will be held at a later date.
