Frances A. Gruszka's Obituary
Frances A. Gruszka “Granny Franny” (nee Staderman), 88, of Lorain, entered into eternal rest at St. Mary of the Woods on February 13th, 2015 after a lengthy illness. Born March 15, 1926 in Buffalo, NY, she moved to Lorain in 1958 when her husband was transferred with the Ford Motor Co. She was a devout Catholic parishioner of Nativity B.V.M., St. Patrick’s, St. Peter’s, and St. Francis Cabrini. Devoted to her family, she was a stay at home mom for most of her life and cherished spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Frances worked at Giant Tiger, Zayre, and McDonalds, and volunteered at St. Joseph Hospital. She was an enthusiastic collector of angels and Precious Moments, and enjoyed bowling in various leagues. She was an avid animal lover who wholeheartedly loved her many pets over the years and was a member of The Humane Society.
She is survived by her daughters Barb Nicol, Linda Rangel (Jesse), and Marilyn Noles, all of Lorain and son, Paul Gruszka of San Diego, CA. She will be greatly missed by 10 grandsons, 1 granddaughter, 18 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandsons, and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband Alois, son Gregory, parents Herb and Ruth Staderman, and sisters Mary Kuss and Dorothy Hurley.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, February 15, 2015 from 2:00 – 6:00 p.m. in the Dovin and Reber Jones Funeral & Cremation Center, 1110 Cooper Foster Park Road, Amherst where closing prayers will be held on Monday, February 16th. at 10:30 a.m. followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. at St. Frances Xavier Cabrini Parish, 2143 Homewood Drive, Lorain. Rev. Fr. John Retar, Pastor, will officiate. Private family inurnment will take place at a later date.
The family wishes to express their heartfelt appreciation to St. Mary of the Woods and New Life Hospice for the compassion and kindness that was shown to Frances while she was in their care.
