Frances Mulica's Obituary
Frances Mulica (nee Krol) of Lorain passed away peacefully on Monday, January 9, 2017, seven days in lieu of her 103rd Birthday. Frances was born on January 15, 1914 in Export, Pennsylvania and came to Lorain, Ohio in 1922 making it her permanent residence.
She attended St. Stanislaus and Lorain High School where she received a GED Diploma. She continued her education at John Carroll College on a part time basis while teaching kindergarten for several years at St. Stanislaus School. During this time she also studied at Ellsworth School of Beauty Culture, graduating in 1940.
Mrs. Mulica was an active member of St. Stanislaus Catholic Church along with her husband until its unlikely closing. She was a Charter member of the Women’s Guild, fifty year member of The Rosary Society, a member and the first President of the Legion of Mary, a member of St. Ann’s Lodge, and the Union of Poles.
Frances also became an accomplished porcelain and ceramic arts painter at a later age.
She became a certified Porcelain Arts Teacher and was a member of the Ohio Porcelain Arts Teachers Association. She also served as President and Secretary of the ‘Western Reserve Porcelain Artists Association’ of Cleveland Ohio.
During her involvement, she received several forms of recognition for her leadership and paintings from fellow teachers throughout the United States.
Other activities in which Frances participated included the St. Johns Women’s Drill Team that competed on the local, state and national level with other marching units.
She also golfed in the Deer Track Ladies League, bowled in the St. Stanislaus Mixed League, and was an avid fan of the Cleveland Browns and Indians.
Mrs. Mulica is survived by several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Bernard F Mulica in December of 1998; son,Bernard J. Mulica in September of 2000; parents, Anna Pawlowski (Krol) and Anthony Krol; sisters, Mary Zajdel, Lucy Blasiak, and Josephine Caco; brothers, Louis, Andrew, Ignatius, Joseph, and John Krol.
The family wishes to take this opportunity to thank the administration and staff at Avon Oaks and Golden Acres Nursing Home for their care, service that they provided to Frances Mulica.
There will be no visitation. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, January 13, 2017 at 9:30 a.m. at the Church of St. Peter, 3655 Oberlin Ave., Lorain. Rev. Father Craig Hovanec, Pastor, will officiate. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
