Francisco "Frank" Figueroa's Obituary
Francisco “Frank” Figueroa, age 86, of Lorain, passed away peacefully after a lengthy illness on Tuesday, February 21, 2017 at the New Life Hospice Center of St. Joseph.
Frank was born on December 10, 1930, in Caguas, Puerto Rico. At the age of 17, he moved to Youngstown before finally settling in Lorain. He was a steel worker at US Steel for over 30 years, before retiring in 1995. He also worked at Richmond Brothers, and when he was younger, he worked on his family farm in Puerto Rico. He attended Sacred Heart Church in Lorain. Frank enjoyed playing raquet ball, jogging, and just staying active and fit. Even into his 70’s, Frank was still going to the gym to workout. He also enjoyed baseball, especially the Cleveland Indians. He liked watching the Indians play on TV as well as watching his Old Westerns.
Frank will be dearly missed by his wife of 50 years, Carol (nee Sustersic) Negron, his children; Sherry (Lemuel) Figueroa-Watkins, Francisca Figueroa-Jackson, John Figueroa, Ronald (Joan) Figueroa, and David Figueroa, Lori (Richard) Resendez, Leisa (Ron) Luca, Michael (Lisa) Negron, Todd Negron, and Leslie Rosado, 19 grandchildren; Tristan, Zak, Tony, Corey, Alexandra, Sydney, Matthew, Cameron, Raynette, Veronica, Cicely, Niiodarte, Baye Osei, Francisca, Camay, Ta’Mara, Shirley, John, and Juan, 28 great grandchildren, and his great great grandchildren. He is also survived by his siblings; Francisca, Bernardo, Crucita, Leonarda, Carmelo, Luis, and Rosa, as well as many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; Silverio and Pilar (nee Cuadrado) Figueroa, and his siblings; Ana, Angel, and Victor.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, February 23, from 4 -8 pm in the Dovin and Reber Jones Funeral & Cremation Center, 1110 Cooper Foster Park Road, Amherst, Ohio 44001, where his funeral service will be held on Friday, at 10:00 am. Deacon Tony DeGracia will officiate. Entombment will follow at Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
