Francisco Machado's Obituary
Francisco (Frenchi) Machado (67) passed away June 15, 2023, from late treatment of his second bout with Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. Francisco was born in Lajes Do Pico Island in the Azores on January 16, 1956. His family immigrated to Quebec, Canada where he lived and worked as a Union Carpenter. When he met and married his wife on April 5, 1986, they lived in Elyria Township for the entire 37 wonderful years. Francisco worked through the Carpenter’s Union Locals starting in #305 and ending in local #435. He met some longtime friends through his work; Jim Jones, Steve Bernhardt, Mark Pavlich and Ray Krohn. He enjoyed meeting other friends at local pubs and was a landlord for several years.
As a young man in Canada, Francisco enjoyed many winter sports. In his new U.S. Home, he liked making renovations to his home and the rental properties. His Kubota, then John Deere tractors allowed him to cut lots of grass as well as snow blow when needed. He enjoyed listening to music as he worked in his home workshop.
He leaves behind his loving wife, Kathryn (nee Salata), mother and father, Maria and Manuel Machado of Gatineau, Quebec, Canada and sister, Olivia (Kurt) Kalmeyer of Oshawa, Ontario, Canada, foster sister and brother, Josee and Christian Cere of Canada, nephew, Jon Kalmeyer, nieces, Lucia Kalmeyer, Catherine (Mike) Sheller, Diane (Paul) Naveau, Doreen (Matt) Barnett, sister-in-law, Kathleen (Daniel M. ) Salkiewicz; aunts, uncles, and cousins in Canada and Azores.
He joins his deceased grandparents and foster brother, Denny Cere.
Private services, as requested by Francisco, were held at Calvary Cemetery under the direction of the Dovin and Reber Jones Funeral & Cremation Center.
