Frank Carmine William Altomari's Obituary
Frank Carmine William Altomari, 82, of Lorain, Ohio, passed away on Tuesday, November 19, 2024, at Anchor Lodge Nursing Home. He was born on September 16, 1942, in Norfolk, Virginia, to Alfred and Stella (nee Astorino) Altomari.
Frank graduated from Lorain High School in 1960 and proudly served his country in the United States Navy from 1960 to 1963. Following his service, he began a 38.5-year career as a Journeyman electrician at General Motors in Elyria and Parma, retiring in 2002.
A man of many talents and passions, Frank enjoyed photography, computers, bicycling, bowling, and playing the organ. He was a devoted family man and a dedicated member of his community. Frank served as Commander and Honorary Life Member of IAV Post #1 and participated in the IAV Color Guard. He was well-known for his contributions to the club’s events, especially cooking pasta for the spaghetti dinners.
Frank’s kind heart and generous spirit touched many lives. He always put others before himself and will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 58 years, Lois (nee Grabrovac); sons, Anthony (Lynn) and Jeffrey (Tracy); grandchildren, Patrick, Daniel, Colleen, and Miles; sister, Virginia; in-laws, Bob and Kathleen Scott, Ruben and Stephanie Medina, Molly Grabrovac, David and Jo Grabrovac, and Martha Grabrovac; and nephew, Frank (Melanie) Cutter. He was preceded in death by his parents, Alfred and Stella; siblings, Ralph and Nancy; and in-laws, Kenny Grabrovac, Russell Grabrovac, and Mark and Patty Grabrovac.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, November 24, 2024, at the Dovin and Reber Jones Funeral & Cremation Center, 1110 Cooper Foster Park Road, Amherst, from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. Funeral services will follow at 4:00 p.m. Inurnment will take place at a later date at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Rittman, OH.
